One platform. Every technician.
Certified and current.
How TechnoSignage built HQSP, Honda's unified exam and certification platform, to manage qualifications for General Repair, Body and Paint, and Service Advisor roles across the full authorised dealer network.
The client
Honda Middle East operates a global network of authorised dealerships, each employing technicians and service advisors across highly specialised disciplines. In the Middle East, maintaining consistent skill standards across General Repair, Body and Paint, and Service Advisor roles requires a structured, verifiable approach to certification, one that scales across multiple dealer locations and keeps pace with evolving vehicle technology.
TechnoSignage was engaged to design and build two interconnected platforms that together manage the full training and certification lifecycle: the Honda Training Management System (TMS) for course and session management, and HQSP for examination, qualification, and skills certification. Both systems were built by TechnoSignage and are designed to work as a unified ecosystem.
The Training Management System that feeds HQSP
Before a technician or service advisor can sit an exam in HQSP, they need to be enrolled, trained, and tracked. That upstream process is managed by the Honda Training Management System, an online application built by TechnoSignage to handle course requests, session management, and attendee records across Honda's distributor network.
TMS and HQSP operate as complementary layers of the same workforce development infrastructure. TMS manages the learning side; HQSP manages the qualification and certification side. User registration in TMS flows directly into HQSP, meaning a technician's role, training history, and course completions are already present when they begin their certification journey.
Session and attendee management
Administrators create course sessions based on available courses from both Honda and individual distributors, manage attendee lists, record scores, and track module-level proficiency across the trainee population. This gives Honda a structured record of which staff have completed which training, and at what standard, across every distributor in the network.
Course discovery and self-directed learning
Trainees log in to browse available courses from both Honda and their own distributor, view session schedules, and request enrolment. The self-service model encourages participation and makes it easy for staff to take ownership of their own development, rather than waiting to be nominated by a manager.
Certifying a multi-discipline network at scale
Managing qualifications across a geographically dispersed dealer network, with distinct roles, progression levels, and renewal requirements, demands a system built for that specific complexity. Without it, compliance gaps go undetected, certification tracking becomes manual, and skill standards drift across locations.
No unified view of technician certification status
Without a centralised system, Honda had no reliable, real-time picture of which technicians across the network were certified, at what level, and when renewals were due.
Biennial renewal tracking was manual and error-prone
With certifications expiring every two years across dozens of roles and users, ensuring every individual renewed on schedule required significant administrative overhead and was prone to gaps.
Distinct disciplines required separate management logic
General Repair, Body and Paint, and Service Advisor roles each have different exam types, progression levels, and prerequisite structures, making a generic training tool inadequate.
Practical exam oversight required a dedicated workflow
Theory exams, classroom attendance, eLearning completions, and practical assessments all feed into certification eligibility. Managing this mix without an automated prerequisite engine created inconsistency and delay.
Three systems. One integrated platform.
HQSP is structured around three specialist certification systems, each tailored to a distinct set of roles and progression pathways. All three operate within the same platform, with shared infrastructure for user management, reporting, and administration, but each carries its own exam types, levels, and certification logic.
General Repairs
Covers the certification pathway for General Repair Technicians performing routine and complex mechanical work across the Honda vehicle range.
Body and Paint
Manages certification for body repair and paint technicians, covering structural and cosmetic repair standards across the Honda bodyshop network.
Service Advisors
Certifies front-of-house service advisor roles, including customer handling, technical communication, and service process compliance competencies.
From enrolment to certification, fully automated
HQSP manages the complete certification lifecycle for each user, from initial role assignment through to certification issuance and biennial renewal. The platform eliminates manual tracking by automating level progression and eligibility assessment at every stage.
User registered and role assigned via TMS integration
All Honda network users are registered on HQSP through the existing Training Management System. Once a role is assigned, the platform automatically determines which certification system and starting level applies to that user.
Relevant exams and learning activities surfaced automatically
Based on the user's assigned role and current certification level, HQSP displays only the exams and learning activities relevant to their next certification step. Users are not presented with irrelevant content from other disciplines or levels.
Prerequisites completed across multiple learning formats
Certification prerequisites can be fulfilled through any combination of theory exams, classroom courses, eLearning modules, or practical assessments, depending on the system and level. The platform tracks completion across all formats automatically.
Eligible users listed for Honda admin certification assignment
Once all prerequisites for a certification are met, the user appears automatically on the certification-ready list. Honda administrators can review and assign certifications directly from this list, with full visibility of each user's completion record.
Level progression updated automatically on certification
Once a certification is awarded, the system advances the user's level without manual intervention. New exams and activities for the next level become available immediately, keeping progression continuous and self-managing.
Biennial renewal cycle enforced across the network
All certifications carry a two-year validity period. HQSP tracks renewal deadlines across every user in the network and surfaces upcoming expirations, ensuring Honda's workforce stays current with the latest technical standards on a continuous cycle.
A structured path from entry to mastery
Each HQSP system uses a tiered level structure that progresses automatically as users complete certifications. Technicians enter at the lowest tier and advance through successive levels, with each stage unlocking a more advanced set of exams and responsibilities. HQSP GR, for example, begins at Bronze and progresses upward as certifications are completed and renewed.
Bronze
Entry level. Core theory exams and foundational practical assessments to establish baseline competency.
Silver
Intermediate level. Advanced modules unlocked after Bronze certification is achieved and renewed.
Gold
Senior level. Full technical competency recognised across all disciplines within the certification system.
Every module built for the certification workflow
HQSP was designed from the ground up around Honda's certification process. Each feature module addresses a specific operational requirement, from exam creation to compliance reporting, without relying on generic LMS tooling that does not fit the automotive dealer context.
System master file management
Centralised configuration of users, roles, levels, and system parameters across all three HQSP platforms, with full Honda admin control.
Theory test management and setup
End-to-end creation, scheduling, and administration of theory examinations, with configurable question banks, pass thresholds, and attempt rules per certification level.
Randomised exam question delivery
Exams are created directly in HQSP with a shared question bank. For each session, questions are pulled randomly per candidate, ensuring no two test takers receive the same set. This eliminates answer sharing and maintains the integrity of every exam across the network.
Certification configuration and cycles
Full control over certification prerequisites, assignment workflows, and two-year renewal cycles, with automated expiry tracking and renewal prompts across the network.
Practical test management
Structured practical assessment workflows for GR, SA, and BP disciplines, enabling assessors to record, score, and submit practical results within the same platform as theory exams.
Evaluations for Service Advisors
A dedicated evaluation module for HQSP SA, supporting structured performance assessments specific to the customer-facing competencies of the Service Advisor role.
Certification lists and assignment
Live lists of users who have met all prerequisites, enabling Honda administrators to review completion records and issue certifications from a single controlled interface.
Reports across GR, SA, and BP
Comprehensive reporting across all three systems, covering certification compliance rates, exam pass rates, level distribution, renewal status, and individual user progress, giving Honda management full visibility of workforce qualification health across the network.
What HQSP delivers to Honda
By replacing fragmented, manual certification management with a purpose-built digital platform, HQSP gives Honda end-to-end control over workforce qualifications across the full dealer network, at every level, in every discipline.
Full network certification visibility in one place
Honda management can see the certification status, level, and renewal timeline for every technician and service advisor across the dealer network at any time, without manual data gathering.
Biennial renewal compliance enforced automatically
The two-year renewal cycle is tracked and managed by the platform, eliminating the risk of certifications lapsing undetected and ensuring Honda's workforce remains current with the latest technology standards.
Prerequisite management removed from administrators
The platform tracks each user's completion status across theory, classroom, eLearning, and practical formats automatically. Administrators are presented with a ready-to-certify list, not a tracking exercise.
Level progression standardised and auditable
Advancement from Bronze to higher levels follows consistent, rule-based logic across every user and every dealer. Honda has a verifiable, auditable record of how and when each progression was achieved.
Discipline-specific workflows without separate tools
GR, BP, and SA each have their own exam logic, practical workflows, and evaluation structures, all maintained within a single platform rather than across separate, disconnected systems.
TMS integration eliminates duplicate user management
User registration flows directly from Honda's existing Training Management System. There is no parallel data entry or synchronisation overhead, and role changes in TMS are reflected in HQSP automatically.
Built for every stakeholder in the certification chain
HQSP serves distinct user groups across the certification process, each with a tailored experience appropriate to their role. Technicians take exams and track their own progress. Assessors manage practical evaluations. Honda administrators control certification assignment and reporting.
"HQSP transforms certification from an administrative burden into a self-managing system. Honda knows exactly who is certified, at what level, and when they need to renew, across every discipline and every dealer, without anyone having to compile a spreadsheet."
